SALON BOOTH RENTAL AGREEMENT TEMPLATE FAQ

What is a salon booth rental agreement?

A salon booth rental agreement is a written contract between a salon owner (or salon business) and an independent stylist, barber, nail tech, esthetician, or other beauty professional. It sets out the booth rent, schedule, what is included, and the responsibilities of each party.

Is a booth renter an employee of the salon?

In many booth-rent situations, the stylist is considered an independent contractor, not an employee. This usually means the stylist controls their own schedule, pricing, and client relationships, and is responsible for their own taxes and insurance, subject to local laws.

What should be included in a salon booth rental agreement?

A clear agreement should identify the parties, describe the booth or station, set rent and payment schedule, define working hours and access, explain what is included (utilities, back bar, towels, reception), set conduct and dress standards, address client ownership, and clarify the independent contractor relationship.

Who owns the clients under a booth rental arrangement?

Client ownership can be handled differently from salon to salon. Some agreements state that the stylist owns their client list, while others restrict solicitation if the stylist leaves. This template includes a client and non-solicitation section you can adjust to fit your salon’s policy and local rules.

Does a salon booth rental agreement need to address insurance and licenses?

Yes. It is common for the agreement to require the stylist to hold proper professional licenses and carry liability or professional insurance, and to comply with health and safety regulations. The salon may also maintain its own business insurance.

Can AI Lawyer help me customize this Salon Booth Rental Agreement?

Yes. AI Lawyer can help you fill in this Salon Booth Rental Agreement with your salon name, booth details, rent amount, rules, and schedule so you have a clear, easy-to-read contract ready for review and signature.
