WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY CONTRACT FAQ
What is a Wedding Photography Contract?
A Wedding Photography Contract is a legally binding agreement between a couple and a professional photographer. It sets out the scope of services, deliverables, fees, and rights regarding the photographs.
Why is a Wedding Photography Contract important?
It prevents misunderstandings by clearly defining expectations—such as the number of hours of coverage, style of photography, editing, and delivery timelines. It also protects the photographer’s intellectual property rights and the client’s right to receive the promised services.
When should you use a Wedding Photography Contract?
Use this contract whenever hiring a professional photographer for a wedding, engagement shoot, or related event. It is especially important where significant time, costs, and memories are involved.
What should a Wedding Photography Contract include?
It should cover the scope of services, shooting schedule, fees and payment terms, cancellations or rescheduling, editing and delivery timelines, photo rights and usage, liability limits, and governing law.
Does the photographer retain copyright of the photos?
Typically, photographers retain copyright but grant clients a license for personal use. Some contracts allow clients to purchase full rights. This should be clearly stated in the agreement.
