MOTORCYCLE BILL OF SALE TEMPLATE FAQ
What is a motorcycle bill of sale?
A motorcycle bill of sale is a written document that records the details of a motorcycle sale between a seller and a buyer. It usually includes the VIN, year, make, model, purchase price, date of sale, and the names and signatures of both parties. It serves as proof that ownership has been transferred.
Do I need a bill of sale to sell or buy a motorcycle?
In many states and countries, a bill of sale is recommended or required to register or title a motorcycle after a private sale. Even if not mandatory, it provides a useful record for both buyer and seller and can help prevent disputes about the price, date of transfer, or condition of the bike.
What information should a motorcycle bill of sale include?
A solid motorcycle bill of sale typically includes: buyer and seller names and addresses, motorcycle details (VIN, year, make, model, color, engine size), sale date and purchase price, odometer reading, any liens, an “as-is” or warranty clause, and signatures of both parties. Some jurisdictions may require additional disclosures.
Is a motorcycle bill of sale the same as a title?
No. A bill of sale is not a title and does not replace registration. It documents the transaction between buyer and seller. The buyer usually must still use the title and follow local motor vehicle agency procedures to register the motorcycle, pay taxes and fees, and transfer the title.
Can I sell a motorcycle “as is” using this template?
Yes. This template includes an “as-is” clause, which is common in private motorcycle sales. That means the seller does not promise that the motorcycle is free from defects. There is also space for a limited warranty if the seller chooses to offer one. Local law may still provide protections against fraud or undisclosed major issues.
Can AI Lawyer help me complete this Motorcycle Bill of Sale?
Yes. AI Lawyer can help you fill in this Motorcycle Bill of Sale template with your motorcycle details, buyer and seller information, and any special terms so you have a clear, ready-to-sign document.
