EQUIPMENT BILL OF SALE TEMPLATE FAQ

What is an equipment bill of sale?

An equipment bill of sale is a written document that records the sale and transfer of equipment—such as machinery, tools, office equipment, vehicles without titles, or other business assets—from a seller to a buyer. It usually includes a description of the items, the price, and the date of transfer, and is signed by both parties.

When do I need an equipment bill of sale?

You should use an equipment bill of sale whenever you buy or sell equipment between private parties or businesses, especially if the items are valuable. It helps prove who owns the equipment, what was sold, and on what terms, which can be important for accounting, taxes, warranties, and avoiding later disputes.

What should an equipment bill of sale include?

A solid equipment bill of sale usually includes: buyer and seller information, a clear description of each piece of equipment (make, model, serial number, condition), the purchase price and payment terms, whether the sale is “as is” or under a limited warranty, any liens, and signatures of both parties.

Can I list multiple items on one equipment bill of sale?

Yes. You can use one bill of sale for multiple items as long as you clearly describe each item (for example, Item 1, Item 2, etc.). You can also attach a separate equipment list or inventory sheet and reference it in the bill of sale if there are many items.

Is the equipment sold “as is” under this template?

By default, this template is written for an “as-is” sale, meaning the seller does not promise that the equipment is free of defects. There is an optional section where the seller can provide a limited warranty if they choose. Local law may still require honest disclosure of known major issues.

Can AI Lawyer help me customize this Equipment Bill of Sale?

Yes. AI Lawyer can help you adapt this Equipment Bill of Sale template with your specific equipment list, prices, payment terms, and special conditions so you have a clear, professional document ready to sign.
