LIFE COACHING AGREEMENT TEMPLATE FAQ

What is a life coaching agreement?

A life coaching agreement is a written contract between a coach and a client that explains how the coaching relationship will work. It usually covers the services provided, session schedule, fees, cancellations, confidentiality, and the responsibilities of both parties. A clear agreement helps set expectations from the beginning and makes the coaching arrangement more professional.

Why do you need a life coaching agreement?

You need a life coaching agreement to reduce misunderstandings and clearly document the terms of the relationship. It helps both sides understand what coaching includes, how and when payment must be made, how missed sessions are handled, and what limits apply to the coach’s services. It also creates a useful written record if questions come up later.

When should you use a life coaching agreement?

Use a life coaching agreement before coaching sessions begin, whether the services are offered in person, online, or by phone. It is useful for one-time coaching packages, ongoing coaching relationships, personal development support, mindset coaching, accountability coaching, and similar non-clinical services. It is especially helpful when regular scheduling and payment terms need to be clearly defined.

How to write a life coaching agreement?

Start by identifying the coach and the client, then describe the coaching services being provided. Add the session format, frequency, fees, payment terms, cancellation rules, confidentiality terms, and the length of the agreement. You should also include language explaining that coaching is not therapy, medical care, or legal advice, then finish with signature lines for both parties.
