Cleaning Subcontractor Agreement Template FAQ

What is a cleaning subcontractor agreement?

A cleaning subcontractor agreement is a written contract between a primary cleaning company or contractor and a subcontractor hired to perform cleaning services. It explains the scope of work, service standards, payment terms, scheduling, and each party’s responsibilities. A clear agreement helps both sides understand how the subcontracted work will be handled.

Why do you need a cleaning subcontractor agreement?

You need a cleaning subcontractor agreement to clearly document the business relationship and reduce misunderstandings. It helps define who is responsible for performing the work, supplying equipment, meeting service standards, maintaining insurance, and handling client-related issues. A written agreement also creates a useful record if there is a dispute about payment, performance, or compliance.

When should you use a cleaning subcontractor agreement?

Use a cleaning subcontractor agreement whenever a cleaning business hires another independent cleaner or cleaning company to complete services on its behalf. It is useful for recurring commercial cleaning, residential cleaning overflow work, specialty cleaning, temporary staffing support, and project-based cleaning jobs. It is especially helpful when clear written terms are needed for scope, timing, invoicing, and quality expectations.

How to write a cleaning subcontractor agreement?

Start by identifying the contractor and the subcontractor, then describe the cleaning services to be performed and where the work will take place. Add payment terms, scheduling, work standards, equipment responsibilities, insurance requirements, confidentiality terms, and independent contractor language. You should also include termination rights, non-solicitation or client protection terms if needed, and signature lines for both parties.
